As you have subscribed to the All Wales Continuous Improvement Community, applications for our next Learn and Share event ‘Community Wealth Building’ are now open.
Community wealth building is a people and community centered approach to local economic development. It redirects wealth back into the local economy and places control and benifits into the hands of local people
The approach is rooted in the European social democratic tradition, in which the state works to protect public values and achieve good outcomes for citizens. The UK approach has drawn inspiration from work pioneered
by The Democracy Collaborative in Cleveland, Ohio and the Mondragon cooperatives of the Basque Country.
The Centre for Local Economic Strategies (CLES) is at the forefront of the Community Wealth Building movement in the UK. Having worked with Preston since 2012 on the so-called ‘Preston model’, CLES is now supporting places across the UK and beyond to build community wealth.
